Dunwoody will see something this fall it hasn’t seen since it first became a city: a city election with candidates running against one another.
During the August 29-Sept. 2 qualifying period, three candidates filed to run for mayor in the Nov. 8 election. Six others filed for the three City Council seats up for election.
Here are the candidates who filed to run for city posts in November.
Mayor
Three candidates seek the post held by Mayor Ken Wright, who announced earlier this year that he would not run for reelection.
Bob Dallas
Dallas is a lawyer. He chairs the Dunwoody Planning Commission and served on the board of Dunwoody Yes!, the group that promoted the city’s incorporation effort. He is the former director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

City Council
Three council positions are on the ballot in November. Candidates for each post must live in the election district tied to the post, but they run citywide. Three candidates, including the incumbent, are seeking the Post 4 seat. Two candidates filed for the Post 5 seat now held by City Councilman Danny Ross, who decided not to seek reelection. City Councilman John Heneghan filed for reelection and faces no opposition.
Post 4

Callihan, a business owner, is a member of the board of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association and a former columnist for the Dunwoody Reporter.
