As a woman shot on April 20 at a Sandy Springs apartment building is still in critical condition Grady Memorial Hospital and her relatives and police officers are looking for answers.

There will be a vigil for Adina Parson tonight, April 24, at 6 p.m. at the Smyrna branch of Elizabeth Baptist Church. Parson is a member of the Atlanta branch, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. On April 20, someone shot Parson in the head several times in the head in the breezeway of her apartment building, the Residences at Morgan Falls. It was the same apartment complex where another man recently died after being shot in a botched drug deal, according to the police.

Police have said they do not have evidence to suggest a connection between the two.

Police spokesman Capt. Steve Rose said both investigations are ongoing. He also said there are no current plans to discuss the homicides at an upcoming Sandy Springs City Council meeting. The council recently discussed the high rate of violent crimes at the city’s apartment complexes and learned about the police department’s efforts to get a handle on the problem.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Parson worked as an attorney for the state Department of Public Health.
