The Ashford-Dunwoody bridge over I-285 will close at 9 p.m. June 1 for construction of the planned “diverging diamond” interchange between the two roads, officials with the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts report.

The bridge is scheduled to reopen June 4 at 5 a.m., the PCID says on its website.

Bridge ramps will be open during the construction. Construction is to include removing asphalt, building a pedestrian walkway, paving, restriping and installing traffic signals, the website says.

“When the crossover opens, traffic on Ashford-Dunwoody Road will cross from the right side of the roadway to the left side at a ramp intersection signal so vehicles may make free left turns onto the I-285 freeway on-ramp,” the website says. “Traffic will then cross back to the right side of the road at a second ramp intersection. A loop ramp used to access I-285 East from the interchange bridge that has been a major contributor to the congestion in the corridor will be removed.”
