All metro-Atlanta Kroger Supermarkets will be serving as public drop-off sites for the Back-2-School Drive. Members of the Atlanta community who would like to donate and contribute can drop off backpacks filled with school supplies at their local Kroger store. More than 3,900 homeless children will live in 134 group homes and shelters throughout 20 metro-Atlanta counties during the 2012-2013 school year, and most of these kids will arrive with little more than a bag of clothes. “For a homeless child entering a new school, surrounded by new kids and new teachers, coming in that first day without a book bag or school supplies serves as a reminder of how they are different and how they don’t fit in,” says Cliff Kinsey, CEO of Children’s Restoration Network. “With our annual Back-2-School Program, we try to provide all of these homeless children in shelters and group homes with new book bags and all the necessary school supplies so that they can enter their schools feeling confident and prepared. We’re thrilled that Goddard Schools are helping us to accomplish our mission this year.”
