Superintendent Erroll Davis will remain as the head of Atlanta Public Schools through 2014.

District 4 Board of Education member Nancy Meister opposed the contract extension, approved during a Dec. 10 Board of Education meeting.

Meister and board member Brenda Muhammad were the two “no” votes, according to the Talk Up APS blog.

The board granted Davis an 18-month extension, beginning July 2013. The Dec. 10 meeting generated four failed motions to extend Davis’ contract before the board approved it. Meister has opposed keeping Davis in light of the recent leadership changes at North Atlanta High. Davis removed the outgoing interim principal and leadership team on Oct. 5, a moved that enraged some parents in Buckhead.
