From police reports dated through Jan. 5.

The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Assault

3200 block of Cains Hill Place, NW – An aggravated assault at a nightclub was reported on the morning of Jan. 1. Someone struck the victim on the back of his head with a beer bottle while inside the bar. The suspect was not on the scene at the time of the report. Video shows the victim shoving an unidentified man twice before being struck by another man in the back of the head. The victim refused treatment.

2600 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on the morning of Jan. 1. The victim was punched in the face by the suspect and lost consciousness as they were walking on the sidewalk together.  The suspect and the victim were friends before the assault.

1900 block of Piedmont Circle, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on Jan. 3. A woman said she was pushed by a friend, causing her to injure her elbow.

Robbery

3600 block of Peachtree Road, NE –A robbery at a gas station was reported on Dec. 30.  An unidentified man, wearing all black, entered the location with a 9mm handgun, demanded money from the register, then left on foot, headed toward Roxboro Road.

2900 block of Peachtree Road, NW – A robbery at a bank was reported on Jan. 2. The bank manager said a man entered the branch and displayed a note to the teller advising ‘”20s, 50s and 100s,” while stating “Hurry up or I’ll kill you.” The teller said the entire time the man kept one hand inside his waistband as to suggest he had a gun. When the teller handed the suspect the monies, she said she hit the silent alarm. He then fled the location with no noted direction of travel. The FBI was contacted and advised of the incident.

500 block of Main Street, NE –A robbery was reported on Jan. 5.  A woman said she was robbed and hit by an unknown man who hit her in the head and took her money. She offered police different accounts as to how she ended up with injuries and why she didn’t phone police until some time after the incident. A neighbor reported seeing the woman sleeping on the ground outside her apartment door. When asked why she was sleeping outside, she did not offer any explanation.  She further said she was to meet her ex-husband on the playground to see her kids. Units on the scene believe her injuries were the result of a domestic dispute and not robbery.

Burglary

900 block of E. Paces Ferry Road, NE –A residential burglary was reported on Jan. 2.  The front door to the residence was pried open.  A maintenance worker making repairs down the hall noticed the open door, entered, then locked the door and called police. The suspect ransacked the apartment. The victim is out of town and unable to be reached to determine if anything was taken.

2700 block of Lenox Road, NE – A residential burglary was reported on Jan. 2.  The reporting person said that someone pried open the side door leading into the workout area and attempted to take a flat screen TV that was mounted on the wall.

1100 block of Huff Road, NW – A commercial burglary was reported on Jan. 4. Someone smashed the store’s front glass window; it is unknown if cash was stolen. The cash register was taken, but found on the highway and returned. A set of fingerprints were obtained.  The key holder could not be contacted. A UPS truck driver saw two men breaking into the location.

200 block of Pharr Road, NE – A commercial burglary was reported on Jan. 4. While the business was closed, a suspect entered by throwing a boulder through the window of a door.  Wires found on the counter near the register suggest an electronic device was stolen. A black screwdriver was in the flower bed on the property.

400 block of Buckhead Avenue, NE – A residential burglary was reported on Jan. 4.  The victim’s apartment was broken into, with damage to the door around the locks. Two MacBooks, an iPad2, a Playstation 3 with three controllers, a 40” flat screen TV, a Louis Vuitton purse and $200 in U.S. currency was taken.

1800 block of Marietta Boulevard, NW – A commercial burglary was reported on Jan. 5.  Items were taken from a storage unit. Suspected point of entry is the chicken wire ceiling that was bent back.

Larceny

800 block of Sidney Marcus Boulevard, NE –A larceny was reported on Dec. 30.             A woman said her deceased brother’s wallet was stolen from a briefcase in her hotel room.

2300 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE –A larceny was reported on the evening of Dec. 30. A man said he set up a meeting via craigslist to sell his iPhone 5. He said that when he met the person, the suspect snatched the phone from him and drove off.

4400 block of Sentinel View Drive, NW – A larceny at a residence was reported on Jan. 2.  A woman said that her purse was taken from her vehicle overnight. The vehicle was left unlocked in her garage with the garage door left open as well.

1800 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from a discount store was reported on Jan. 2. The suspect entered the store and picked up items from the grocery department. The suspect then went to the sporting goods department and took a green duffle bag and concealed the food items in the bag and left all points of sale. Video footage was obtained and the suspect was arrested. Total of the items was $159.63.

1st block of E. Andrews Drive, NW – A larceny at a nightclub was reported on Jan. 2. Someone stole the victim’s purse from her shoulder while she was standing in line.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on Jan. 3. A store employee said a repeat customer entered and asked to see several rings. While the store employee went to another rings case to get an item, the suspect slipped a ring, still on his finger, into the pocket of his hoodie. From that moment on the store employee said the man conducted further business with his left hand, never removing the right hand. The employee didn’t discover the theft until after the man exited the store. The man informed store employees that he resided at the “Eclipse” condominium on Peachtree Road. Upon searching the Internet, the store employee found a mug shot of the subject.

3100 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny was reported on Jan. 3.  A woman left her purse in the break room at her work on the top of her locker. Her wallet was taken from her purse. She had $25 and two credit cards in her wallet. There were no charges made to her accounts.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on Jan. 4. A man presented himself as an inspector with the Atlanta Fire Department, and demanded $300 from each business after conducting what he called to be an inspection of the interior of the facilities.

2100 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny was reported on Jan. 4. A woman said she gave a man helping fix her vehicle a ride, and while in the vehicle the man took items out of her purse.

3200 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on Jan. 5. While the suspect was in the store, he pocketed a yellow diamond bracelet valued $3,500.

Larceny from Auto

1400 block of Northside Drive, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on Dec. 30.   An unknown suspect smashed the window on the victim’s vehicle and stole her bridesmaid dress and $200.

1700 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on Dec. 30. A man said he picked up a man and dropped him off at an unknown location. The victim then noticed that

several items were missing from his vehicle including cash, a cellphone and a laptop. The victim smelled of alcohol and said that at no time was any force used to take the items.

1900 block of Main Street, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on Jan. 3. The victim was not sure if the vehicle was locked. There were no signs of forced entry. Jewelry, cash, a laptop, boxes and extension cords were taken from the vehicle. No witnesses, no cameras at the location. No fingerprints obtained.

Auto Theft

2000 block of Bolton Road, NW – An auto theft was reported on Jan. 1.  The suspect jumped into a running vehicle and ordered the victim, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, to get out.  Shortly after the suspect drove off with the stolen vehicle, he was stopped by police and arrested.
