She believes that her ex-husband took the ring after a visit to her apartment to see the kids. The ex then pawned it. The ex is currently serving time for burglary at Jackson State Prison.

1000 block of Hightower Trail 30350 – On March 6, responding to an alarm, an officer found a door that had been forced at the point where the deadbolt was installed. A search of the home showed that nothing had been taken.

The man was contacted by a woman to meet in a parking lot in the 8300 block of Roswell Road. The woman was in her car and said she had to remain in the car due to her son.  She asked to see the phone to test texting on it. She took the phone and off she went. She drove away and has not been seen since.

NOTE:  iPhones are very popular. iPhone thefts are also very popular. Plan ahead. Here’s your checklist when selling an iPhone:  1. Do not meet someone at night in a parking lot. 2. Always meet in a public place like a coffee shop or gun store. 3. Don’t give the phone over to someone else while they are in a car. Even on foot, when you let them see it, and they’ll want to see it—who wouldn’t? — you run the risk of them taking off. 4. Activate the “Find My iPhone” app. 5. Once agreed, ask for the money up front. Tell the buyer: “Nothing personal, but due to the large number of thefts of iPhones during person-to-person exchanges, I would like to ask for the money first.”

Someone took a chainsaw from the administration building at the Morgan Falls athletic fields.

5500 block of Glenridge Drive 30342 – On March 6, someone took at least seven checks from the drop box of an apartment resident leasing office. He or she apparently used a substance making the checks adhere to whatever he or she used to pull them from the slot.

Rent money is important. Don’t leave it in a drop box. Pay that in person.

6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On March 6, a woman reported that she left an envelope containing $200 cash on the counter next to her food basket at the ALDI store. Arrests

6100 block of Roswell Road — A patrol unit spotted a man in the middle of the street. The man was stumbling. He was unhurt, but very drunk. He was arrested.

Do we arrest every drunken person we come in contact with? If they’re driving, yes. Walking? Not always. It depends. If someone can be contacted to come and get the person then we will try that. If the drunken condition presents a danger to him, her or others, we will probably arrest the person to keep him or her from doing something tragically stupid later. Keep in mind that many times, drunken folks talk themselves into jail. Attitude is everything. Try to stay off Roswell Road and you’ll be ahead of the game.

Peachtree Dunwoody Road — An officer was parked after working an accident. It was a nice day and he had the window down. The officer was about to pull out when he waited for a car to pass. The car passed him and the officer smelled “a very strong and potent smell of burnt marijuana.” He pulled the car over and reported that the smell was “overwhelming.” The driver was asked about the smell and he said, “Well I think a joint was smoked in there.” The man was unable to pass street tests performed to determine if he was “less safe” to drive. He didn’t do well. He was arrested and jailed for driving under the influence. A blood test was taken and submitted to the GBI lab.

8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On March 7, a woman was caught stealing lobster tails from Publix. She was given a citation for the theft of the items valued at just under $25.

6000 block of Roswell Road — Cops responded to a restaurant on March 5 after a man, who was upset because he had asked for store coupons and apparently there were none, threw a “stink” bomb in the store, resulting in a bad smell that 10 customers complained about. The complainant knew the suspect through his roommate. The suspect is believed to be working at another restaurant on Roswell Road.

A woman reported that a man called her and said he was going to kill her and then go to jail. She had gotten into an argument with the man’s mother before the call.
