ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA, Reporter Newspapers broadcast partner) –
A grand jury has reached a decision on whether or not the former Atlanta Public School educators involved in a standardized test cheating scandal should face criminal charges.
Friday afternoon, a bailiff returned from the deliberations with a stack of indictments, including one for former APS Superintendent Dr. Beverly Hall, although it was unclear how many other educators had been indicted.
The jurors’ decision came after hearing testimony for three days at the Fulton County Courthouse.
The hearings remained very private, so it was unclear who was called to testify, or how many educators were facing indictment.
Most of the 180 Atlanta Public Schools teachers and administrators accused of cheating on the 2009 CRCT had already had their district-led tribunal hearings to see if they could return to work.
