The following incidents and arrests are some but not all of the reports filed with SSPD over the listed period, dated through March 29.

The following information was provided by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.


Northwood Drive — A cab driver reported she was robbed on March 17 at around 1:30 a.m. after she picked up a fare on Chamblee Dunwoody Road and drove him to Northwood.  When they arrived, the man demanded her money and cellphone. She gave him $150 and the phone. He fled. The victim said she did not see a gun.

6100 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On March 28, pizza delivery company employees reported that just after 10 p.m., a man came into the store and robbed them. The man came in wearing a black ski mask and a large, black backpack. He held a black, semi-auto pistol in his hand. He demanded money. He was told that they do most of their business by credit card and showed him that they had no money in the register.  He left.


4600 block of Northside Drive 30342 – On March 18, a neighbor overheard an alarm activate. When he went across the street to the home where the alarm was, he found a window that had been forced open. All of the other windows and doors were locked. It appears that whoever broke the window fled when the alarm activated.

1000 block of Huntcliff Trace 30350 – On March 18, a business burglary was reported following an alarm activation just before 11 p.m. It isn’t exactly known what was taken at the time.

3900 block of Spring Creek Lane 30350 – On March 23, a resident said he found the door frame forced open to his apartment. Nothing appears to have been taken.

5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On March 23, someone attempted to pry a door into the victim’s apartment.  A neighbor was inside his apartment and said he heard a noise next door and when he looked through the peep hole in the door, it had been blocked with a piece of tape. The resident of the apartment was gone, and at the time of the report, had not been reached.

5400 block of Glenridge Drive 30342 – On March 25, someone pried the door to the office building and entered, then took an Apple MacPro computer and Falcon hard drive.

Quarry Lake Court 30342 – On March 25, a resident reported that around 3:30 p.m. a man came to the door and told the resident that he was cutting trees next door and he would clean up any mess he made. The victim asked the man to show him the trees he was going to cut. As they walked along the yard, the man spoke to someone in Spanish on a cellphone. They were outside for 20 minutes.  Later that evening, the victim spoke to his wife who recognized the scenario as something she had learned was a setup technique for a burglary. She then went upstairs and found that some of her jewelry had been stolen.

1400 block of South Johnson Ferry Road 30342 – On March 26, the complainant said several electronic items were removed from a business. He noticed a side door had been pried open and computer speakers were holding the door open. The door to the lobby had been forced open. Several computers and related items were taken.

800 block of Calibre Springs Way 30342 – On March 27, the victim’s front door to his apartment had been pried open. A Sony TV and iMac were taken. A similar burglary was also recorded at this time near the incident location.


5600 block of Roswell Road — Employees of a department store reported that a former employee came into the store, along with two women, one of whom had a small child with her. They took several items and passed the checkout area without paying. Store staff confronted them and they dropped the items and fled in a black Honda Accord. The value of the items totaled $623.

700 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – On March 17, a woman said she met a man at a club on Cheshire Bridge Road. They returned to her apartment at about 5 a.m. She fell asleep and woke at 7 a.m. and found the man, her Mac Pro computer and iPad 4 gone.

1500 block of Gettysburg Place 30350 – On March 19, the victim said someone took a visor, intended for a motorcycle helmet, from the doorstep of his apartment. The item had been shipped to that address.

1100 block of Perimeter Center 30328 – On March 20, an employee of an outdoor equipment store reported that he saw a man walking around the store looking at him, so the employee thought the man wanted to ask him a question. The man walked past him and then out an emergency exit, which activated an alarm. The man got into a car and fled. Turns out he stole three climbing ropes valued at $200 each.

6000 block of Sandy Springs Circle 30328 – On March 26, a woman reported that she was at a restaurant. She was in the restroom taking photos with a friend when a woman came in and volunteered to take a photo. The victim then placed her phone on the sink and went into the stall and upon return, the phone was gone. She tracked the phone to an address in Woodstock. She went there and knocked on the door. The victim said the woman who answered the door was the same woman who took the photo.

A man came to police headquarters and reported that his watch had been stolen at a hospital several days prior to his reporting it. The watch was a Cartier valued at $2,500.

A woman reported that on March 27 she was at a restaurant and placed her black Apple iPad that was in a black case in the booth while she walked over and ordered her food. When she got the food and returned, the items were gone.

 8700 block of Roswell Road — A man reported that he went to a coffee shop about 11 a.m. and left his computer bag at the table while he ordered his coffee at the counter. Someone walked by and took his iPad from the case.

1000 block of Johnson Ferry Road 30342 – On March 28 a woman reported a theft of an Apple MacBook Pro, valued at $1,700, from her hospital room.

8700 block of Dunwoody Place 30350 – On March 16, a woman said she met a woman who said she owned a check-cashing store. The victim asked her to help with her taxes.  She said the woman was authorized to fill out the tax forms but not to file the taxes on her behalf. The woman apparently e-filed the taxes anyway. The victim said the suspect told her that she was no longer operating her tax business at the check-cashing location but now had moved her company to inside a nearby sandwich shop.

A man reported that someone used his name and Social Security number to purchase cellphones. The phones were delivered to an apartment address in Lawrenceville. The bill totaled over $1,600.

8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On March 20, an employee of a fast-food restaurant said a man came through the drive-through and paid for a $4 order with a counterfeit $20 bill. He told the man the money was fake. The man said he got the money at the nearby convenience store. He offered to pay with real cash. The man then drove off before receiving any food.

Glen Oaks Lane 30328 – On March 23, a resident reported that an American Express card was taken from her residence after a UPS delivery and before she arrived home. The card was later used at a department store in the metro area.


200 block of Northwood Drive 30342 – On March 16, a man reported that he got into an argument with his roommate over the $25 water bill. The roommate hit him in the hand with a pool stick. The victim had what appeared to be a broken wrist.

700 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – On March 18, a man reported that he went to the suspect’s apartment to collect $550 for producing a music video for another man. The suspect asked the victim if he would video the upcoming performance and the victim said he would, and then asked for the payment up front. This angered the alleged artist and he hit the victim several times on the head. The victim retreated to the bathroom and then left. The suspect and his brother left in a red Porsche.

200 block of Northwood Drive 30342 – On March 19, a patrol officer said that about 3 p.m. he was driving in the 5500 block of Roswell Road when he saw a man standing in the lot of 5690 Roswell Road. The man was bleeding from the head. He told the officer that someone hit him during a robbery attempt. He told the officer he was walking behind a small group of buildings on Northwood Drive when he was approached by a man who said he would hit him in the head with a brick if he didn’t give him $5. The victim told the man to go ahead and hit him because he didn’t have any money. The man hit him in the head with the brick. The man, while being treated, saw the man who robbed him, in the coin laundry on the front side of the businesses. The suspect said he did not rob the man but did make a drug deal with him. The victim was insistent that this was the man who robbed him. The suspect was charged on a warrant pending a preliminary hearing on the charge of aggravated assault.

Roswell Road — On March 23, officers responded to a car accident. One driver said he thought the other was going to exit the car and leave, so he told the officer that he “restrained” him. The other man said the first hit him. He showed the office a cut lip. The officer was unable to determine if the cut lip was from an assault or the accident, so he gave the complainant information on how to prosecute if he wished to do so.

5700 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On March 23, cops responded to a gas station around 10:30 a.m. and spoke to a man who was about to get into an ambulance. The man said he and his male acquaintance were in the same car, driving to the police station so that the victim could make an assault complaint on the male acquaintance.

While on Roswell Road at I-285, the male acquaintance, whom we will call Mr. X, attempted to remove the car keys.  A struggle ensued, so the victim exited the car and walked to the Chevron station because he knew the clerks there. Mr. X followed and then assaulted the victim in the parking lot. A store clerk ran out and pushed Mr. X off the victim. Mr. X left the scene.

The victim was treated for minor injuries and high blood pressure. The victim told the officers that Mr. X would return to the apartment. They drove to the apartment complex and found a man matching the description of Mr. X. Mr. X was not cooperative and became combative. He was secured and then arrested.

1100 block of Perimeter Center 30328 – On March 24, a woman reported that she was in the car with her husband just before 1 a.m. She said while they were on Abernathy Road, he got mad at her for wanting to go out. He stopped the car and got into the back seat where she was and then struggled over a phone, causing some of her nails to come off. She told the officer one of her fingers was sore. Her husband left the scene prior to the cop’s arrival. She left in a taxi to stay with a friend.


6900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On March 16, a cabbie picked up a man on Holcomb Bridge Road. The man, who was drunk, had the driver drive for about an hour. The cabbie took the man to some apartments and the man got out but didn’t pay the $80 fare. He went into an apartment and the cabbie followed. The man didn’t have the money and the others in the apartment wouldn’t loan him any.  He offered to pay the cabbie with a TV and some costume jewelry. When the cops got there, the man refused to identify himself. Based on that and the fact that he didn’t have money to pay for the cab, he was arrested under the name of John Doe.

7400 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On March 17, during a traffic stop, an officer reported that he smelled marijuana from inside the car. The driver said someone had smoked earlier. Later, officers found a bag under the seat with about seven ounces of marijuana and another ounce under the passenger seat. The two occupants of the car were arrested. Just under $900 cash was also logged into evidence.

700 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – On March 17, cops were called to a domestic fight at around 10 p.m. The victim said she and her boyfriend were at a party and he became upset because he felt she was looking at other men. When they returned to their room, he began to throw her belongings outside the room and then grabbed her by the neck and choked her. The cops asked him what happened and he said he didn’t care. He was intoxicated at the time. He was arrested.

1100 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – On March 24, employees of a grocery store called the police regarding a man who took a bottle of wine and put it down his pants in an effort to steal it. He was arrested. He has done this before.

5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On March 25 a woman entered a department store and presented a $100 traveler’s check to pay for her purchases. Per policy, the clerk contacted a loss-prevention staff member who examined the check and found it to be fraudulent. The woman who presented the check became suspicious and left in a Mazda that was in the parking lot. A male driver was in the car waiting for her. After a lookout was posted, a road officer located the car and pulled it over at a gas station  parking lot. The woman exited the car and ran from the police on Lake Placid Drive. She was quickly rounded up and, after being identified, was charged with forgery and obstruction, and then taken to jail. The report did not say what happened to the driver.

7400 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On March 26, three people were arrested after cops got a call that someone was selling drugs from a car that was parked at a gas station at Roswell and Dalrymple roads. The three men were in the car when the officers pulled up. All three were arrested for having marijuana on them. One man had about 16 small baggies of weed and cash totaling $100. All three subjects had been drinking. All were arrested.

6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On March 26, a man was arrested for shoplifting at a discount store.

On March 26, cops were called to a restaurant on Northridge Road around 2:15 a.m. to check on a person who was disorderly. The man was intoxicated and told the officer “F—you!” several times. He was arrested.

7800 block of Holcomb Bridge Road 30350 – On March 27, just before 5 a.m., an officer got a call of a woman acting erratically near a gas station. The officer arrived and found the woman in the roadway. He tried to talk her into walking over to the curb from the roadway. She was uncooperative and said she had been taking methamphetamine. She was eventually secured and checked by EMS personnel. She was turned over to her family who took her to the hospital. No charges were filed.

6300 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On March 27, a woman was detained and later arrested for shoplifting a boneless leg of lamb and two packages of honey-smoked salmon. The value of the stolen items totaled just under $58. She had placed them in her purse.

5500 block of New Northside Drive 30342 – On March 28, the staff at an animal hospital called the police and told them a drunken man was lying in the parking lot eating a pack of Doritos. When they arrived they found the Doritos Cool Ranch bag on the pavement and the man was trying to stand between two cars. He was pretty drunk. Turns out he stole the Doritos and 14 beef-jerky sticks at the nearby gas station. He was arrested.

1000 block of Winding Creek Trail 30328 – On March 16 a woman reported that cars were egged.
