The following incidents and arrests are some but not all of the reports filed with SSPD over the listed period, dated through Aug. 2.
The following information was provided by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
Robbery
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 23 a man reported that he was in the parking lot of the Bank of America just before 10 p.m. He exited his car and was approached by a man who had a gun. The man took the victim’s wallet and contents.
Burglary
1st block of Cedar Run 30350 – On July 20 a man reported that between 9:25 and 10:30 p.m., someone came into his apartment and took a laptop, Xbox 360, PS3 and several other items.
1700 block of Sandalwood Drive 30350 – On July 20 the victims were gone overnight, and when they returned home, they found someone had broken into the apartment and had taken several things. They had a juvenile suspect as being on the short list.
6300 block of Powers Ferry Road 30342 – On July 20 cops were called to the Wyndham Hotel and met with a 21-year-old man who said someone accessed his room and took cash, two iPhones and other items. The victim said he fell asleep just before 6 a.m. and when he woke at 7:40 a.m., the items were gone.
200 block of Summer Drive 30350 – On July 21 the apartment resident said that when she and her male friend arrived home at 9:30 p.m., they could not get into the apartment because the deadbolt was locked. They went around to the back of the apartment and saw a man exiting from a window. He ran, and the male friend ran after him, but lost sight. At the time of the report, nothing was missing.
100 block of Parc Du Chateau 30328 – On July 24 someone entered the victim’s garage and apparently unsuccessfully tried to steal a motorcycle.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 24, sometime between 7:30 and 10 a.m., someone came into the victim’s apartment and took two televisions and a laptop.
5300 block of Long Island Drive 30342 – On July 24, sometime between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., someone forced a French door and entered the residence. The burglar took cash and possibly jewelry.
300 block of Summerset Lane 30328 – On July 24, sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m., someone forced entry into the victim’s apartment and took some jewelry items.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 25 officers met with a woman who came home and found her door and window open. The occupant was gone from about 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. It appears that someone came in through the living room window by force. Several items were taken.
5000 block of Riley Terrace Road 30328 – On July 27 a contractor said that he had secured the house he was working in, but the next day he found that someone had been inside and had trashed the place, leaving liquor bottles, beer cans, wine bottles, and other junk in the home. A neighbor said they saw teenagers at the home earlier.
300 block of Sandy Springs Circle 30328 – On July 29 someone broke into the “Just Quality Cleaners” and took $100 cash and an iPad.
6900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 30 police were called to an apartment where a man said a burglary was in progress. The victim knew the men who were listed as suspects. The call turned out to be unfounded, however a woman, listed as a witness, was found to be wanted in Newton County on a probation violation originating from an earlier methamphetamine arrest.
4800 block of Lake Forrest Drive 30328 – On July 30 a man reported that he was gone from 10:45 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. When he returned home, he discovered that someone had broken into the house by kicking in the carport door. Several items were taken including a 50” TV, laptop, weapons and cash.
700 block of Marsh Trail Circle 30350 – On July 31 a woman reported that while she was out running errands, someone came into her apartment between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The front door had been forced open by a prying tool. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.
200 block of Franklin Road 30342 – On July 31, sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., someone entered the victim’s apartment and took a laptop and jewelry.
Theft
1200 block of Crest Valley Drive 30342 – On July 20 the complainant said his contractor, who did the wood trim, quit and took $3,000 worth of trim, drawers and cabinet doors with him.
6600 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 21 a man reported that he was at the LA Fitness, on Roswell and Abernathy, and while he was working out, someone cut his lock off of the locker and took his iPhone 5, $150, three credit cards, personal ID and his car keys.
6900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 21 someone cut the lock and removed a bicycle from the apartment patio.
1000 block of Harbor Pointe Parkway 30350 – On July 23 a woman reported that she picked up a guy she knew by the name “Three,” who had an Apple logo tattooed on his neck and a tattoo on the side of his eye. They went and hung out. When she dropped him off later, she believes that he took her iPhone that was in the cup holder in the car. While they were hanging out, “Three” told her that he was recently released from jail and that he was from Texas. She believes that his name may possibly be “Jerielle.”
5500 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 23 a woman reported that she was at the Lifetime Fitness gym for about 45 minutes. During that time, someone took her wallet from her purse inside the locker. She said the locker was secured.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 24 store employees at Publix saw a woman steal a pack of shrimp, put it in her purse, and then exit the store. An employee confronted her, so she threw the shrimp at him and got into her black, 2-door Audi Coupe (tag obtained) and fled. He said she almost backed into him as she left.
100 block of Mystic Place 30342 – On July 25 cops met a woman who said she witnessed someone taking mail from the victim’s mailbox. A newer white Cadillac sedan pulled up to the mailbox and someone reached in and took the mail. The witness said there were two occupants of the car.
9000 block of River Run 30350 – On July 27 a representative for the Huntcliff Club said someone took two tables that were valued at $200.
4600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 27 a 20-year-old woman reported that her friends stole her cell phone and $320 cash. The cash had been loaned by her boyfriend’s parents to get her car out of impound.
A 68-year-old man on River Springs Lane reported that someone stole his mailbox.
4600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 28 a 28-year-old man reported that his friend went with him to the drug store to pay for the victim’s Klonopin pills. The victim said that he thinks his friend took 45 of the 60 pills in the bottle. He said the friend wanted to be paid back with pills and not cash. Klonopin (Clonazepam) is used to treat seizures, panic disorders and anxiety.
7800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 28 a 30-year-old woman reported that someone took her Western Union money orders from the apartment rent drop box, and later forged them and cashed them in. Someone apparently used “Sticky Traps” to drop into the box and retrieve the money orders.
7100 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On July 29 a man reported that he ordered a new laptop that was delivered by FedEx, but was left at the apartment office for security reasons. Someone stole it from the office.
100 block of Grogan’s Lake Drive 30350 – On July 30 three lawn frog statues were reported stolen from a yard while the resident was out of town. In the past, someone has moved the statues from place to place in the yard. She is also missing a blue chair and someone cut the line to her invisible fence. She said that she has had problems with a neighbor and thinks that the neighbor is responsible.
On July 30, the manager of the McDonald’s, in the 8700 block of Roswell Road, said one of his employees took a money bag with $253 in it. He confronted the employee and showed a video of him taking the bag. The employee said he would return the money. He did not.
A woman reported that the air machine in the 5700 block of Roswell Road, at the Chevron gas station, took 75 cents from her and did not deliver the air. The management said the air machine was not theirs and they were not responsible.
5500 block of Glenridge Drive 30342 – On July 31 a Dell laptop was reported stolen from the Belmont Village Senior Housing Community. The laptop belonged to one of the staff members.
9400 block of Roberts Drive 30350 – On July 31 a woman reported that a friend of the family stayed over at the residence and when he left, she discovered that 18 Oxycotin pills and six Alprazolam pills were missing from their respective bottles. She said the man had commented before on being in pain but having no money.
1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – On July 31 a gym member at LA Fitness said someone broke his lock off the locker and took his wallet with personal items, credit cards, and currency, as well as a key. The thief walked around the corner to Sports Authority and used one of the cards for $144. A card was also used later for gas at a BP station for $47.
400 block of Carriage Drive 30328 – On Aug. 1 a woman said that she saw a small grey vehicle drive up to her mailbox. The occupant took her mail and then drove away. The responding officer found some of her mail opened and discarded a short distance from her home.
1st block of Concourse Parkway 30328 – On Aug. 1 a woman reported that someone took her iPad and perfume from her suitcase, which was in her room at the Westin Hotel.

Fraud
7200 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 20 a man reported that another man gave him two checks, totaling $1,600, as a down payment for a car. When he deposited the checks, the bank told him the funds were insufficient.
A woman reported that she found fraudulent charges on her Visa card, totaling $280. She destroyed the old card and was issued a new one. She later found over $2,000 in charges on the new one.
1500 block of Harbor Pointe 30350 – On July 23 a woman reported that she met a man at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store in the 7800 block of Roswell Road. She purchased the part for him, and gave him the part and receipt for it. He then took it back to the auto parts store where she bought it and received a refund for $52. She said he now will not return her calls. She thinks that he lives on Windridge Drive.
On July 23, an 84-year-old woman on North Mill Road called to report that she had received a call on July 16 from someone claiming that he was her grandson. She said she had a hard time hearing the person but understood at one point that he was in trouble. Someone else came on the line and said he was Sergeant Draper and her grandson was in the Dominican Republic and needed $5,000 for bail.
Sergeant Draper said her grandson didn’t want his parents to know, which is why he called his grandmother. The victim said she was skeptical but also worried. She went to a nearby Publix and wired $1,580 to Western Union. She called the number given, and spoke to Sergeant Draper, who said everything would be OK once she sent the balance of the money. He was getting the charges dropped. The following day she sent $1,450, called Draper again, who said they were getting her grandson a plane ticket as soon as the rest of the money was paid. He told her to send the money to Y Van-Gabriel Rangel-Perata and another person named Pablo Blanca. The bottom line is the victim is out over $5,000. She later called her daughter and found that her grandson was in school here in Georgia.
A similar fraud was reported by an 84-year-old woman who said she was contacted on July 24 at around 11 a.m. The caller said he was a lawyer representing her grandson who was locked up for DUI, hit and run, and an expired license. The man said her grandson needed $1,900 wired to him to get him out of Fulton County Jail. The victim was told her “grandson” was embarrassed, so he didn’t want his parents to know. She wired $1,900 to Baltimore, MD, to someone named Nichole Lashawn Sweet. A second wire was sent for $2,040 before she became suspicious. She contacted her real grandson who was with his parents checking out colleges.
A man and woman, both in their 80’s, came in to report that they have been getting calls from a man who said they won the lottery. He said his name was “David Martin” from Dunwoody. Cops checked the phone number which was found to be originating in Jamaica. “David Martin” has called the number several times, but the intended victims did not believe the story and have asked him to quit calling.
Assault
A man called police to complain that he was illegally “chest bumped” during a confrontation over a man wanting more alcohol while they were out that evening.
Cops responded to Spring Creek Lane on a domestic call on July 29 around 3:47 a.m. They met with a woman who said her live-in boyfriend hit her in the mouth. The man’s finger was bleeding from where he said she bit him. He looked, smelled and later confirmed that he had been drinking. The woman who called the police immediately lost credibility when she gave the cops a false birth date. She said he was mad when he got home because dinner wasn’t ready. The argument started, escalated, and moved to the parking lot, where he slugged her. She had signs of being hit. The man was arrested for domestic violence. The woman was arrested for giving false information to the police. She said she did so because she is currently undergoing immigration hearings. She said she is a citizen of Kenya. All went to jail.
1300 block of Old Hammond Chase 30328 – On July 29, while officers were speaking to two parties over a dispute, a man who was related to one of the parties walked up and began causing a disruption while the officer was trying to settle it down. He was arrested.
400 block of Morgan Falls Road 30350 – On July 29, while an officer responded to a disturbance call, a man pulled up in front of the patrol car and attempted to provoke the man to whom the officer was talking to. The officer told him to back off, which he ignored, and the man continued to try and fight the other man. The officer had to physically restrain the man. He was later arrested.
Arrests
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 20 the employees of Publix observed and detained a male juvenile who stole a pair of JVC ear buds, valued at $8. He was released to his mother. On the following day, a woman was arrested for stealing makeup.
Riverview Road 30342 – On July 22 cops were called on a domestic complaint. The caller said that she and her husband were in bed sleeping when suddenly, without provocation, her husband rolled over and took the blankets with him. Exposed, she pulled them back over her, and this caused her husband to become angry and curse at her. He pushed her out of bed, causing her to injure her leg. The husband was somewhat vague over the details and said there may have been some pushing, and she may have hit her head on something. He was arrested on domestic violence charges.
1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – On July 23 officers responded to the Tilted Kilt on a person who had been kicked out of two taxi cabs because he was too intoxicated and too belligerent. They found the intoxicated man standing outside of the restaurant. He was one of those drunks that everyone hates – he had just enough motor skills going to insult everyone around him, saying the employee who called police was a “snake.” The officers found that he was from California, and was staying here somewhere at a hotel. They tried to get the man to give them the name and phone number of his wife so she could come get him. However, he responded to the questions with “What do you think?” Eventually he gravitated to “F—- you,” which means “Officers, please take me to jail.”
An officer stopped a car on I-285, and during the conversation with the driver and passenger, he found that the passenger was wanted in Cobb County on a failure to yield on a previous marijuana charge. He was arrested. The driver was given a warning and continued on.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 23 Target store security observed and videotaped two persons who walked around the store, stealing items and placing them in a cart, and trying to leave without paying. The pair was arrested for stealing over $400 in store items.
Northridge Road 30350 – On July 25 the victim said that he was walking along Northridge Road and Colquitt just after 3 a.m. when a car drove past him, turned around, and stopped. He walked past the car and a man got out and pulled a gun on him. The man said “Give me everything you have!” The man gave up his cell phone, and the suspect re-entered the car and left. Just before that robbery, on Northridge Road, it appears the same suspect robbed a man at 2 a.m. He was in a Chevy Impala, silver in color. An officer had the Chevy Impala pulled over on a traffic offense when the lookout was broadcast. The officer secured the two men in handcuffs and found the stolen phones in the car. The two are in jail awaiting a hearing on robbery charges.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 25 employees reported that a woman concealed health and beauty items under her coat and walked out of the store. They detained her and called police. The woman was also wanted in Cobb County for a probation violation for shoplifting. She was arrested. Another woman was arrested on the same day after employees saw her conceal a makeup compact. The woman said she took the compact but threw it down before she walked out. She did have makeup remover in her purse. She was arrested as well.
“Jasmine” was arrested in the 6200 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road on July 25 for prostitution.
Abernathy and Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On July 27, following a traffic stop, an officer smelled marijuana coming from the car. The driver said he previously smoked but nothing was in the car. The passenger then confessed and said there was some weed under the seat. The cops found a small amount. The passenger was given a citation.
6000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 28 cops were called to Three Sheets Bar around 1 a.m. after a disturbance was reported. One person said someone grabbed her buttocks and the grabber said he didn’t, but the other side was in a civil dispute over other stuff. They were escorted outside where someone broke a windshield with a glass, and fighting and shoving ensued. Several were charged with disorderly conduct.
6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 29, following a traffic stop, the driver of the car was arrested after the officer found that he was wanted on a Sandy Springs probation violation warrant.
5900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 29 two women were arrested for soliciting sex from customers in exchange for money for food.
7600 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On July 29 an officer pulled a car over after he recognized the name on the tag’s registration as someone who was wanted on a DeKalb County warrant for identity fraud. He was arrested.
Roswell Road and Dunwoody Place 30350 – On July 30, following a traffic stop, the officer said he smelled marijuana. After talking to the driver, he spoke to the passenger who, when he stepped out, dropped a small bag of weed to the ground and covered it with his foot as if that wouldn’t be noticed. It was. He was arrested.
Also on July 30, at Roswell and Trowbridge roads, an officer pulled a car over that had expired tags. The driver said the car was his girlfriend’s, and appeared very nervous. The K-9 checked the car and found some marijuana in a plastic bottle in a book bag. He was cited and released due to a medical condition not related to the marijuana.
Abernathy Road and Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – On July 30 cops received a call about a panhandler. The man was described as “aggressive,” and gave potential donors the finger when they declined. He left the location just before the officer’s arrival, but was located near an atrium area of an office building. He is a regular customer. He was arrested.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 30 Target security personnel observed a man conceal clothing in his pants while shopping. This included socks, some boxers, and shorts. He was detained and arrested on the theft as well as on a warrant from DeKalb County.
6900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On July 31 a woman reported that her boyfriend hit her following an argument on the topic of how small his penis was. The man, upon seeing the cops, ran to his apartment, but since the two live together, the woman gave the officer permission to enter. Inside the apartment was evidence that the man had punched the walls, and according to the victim, choked her. Although she had evidence of being physically struck, had red marks on her neck and scratches, she declined medical treatment. The boyfriend was arrested, and charged with simple battery-domestic violence, and obstruction of a 911 call.
Ga. 400/Glenridge Connector 30342 – On July 31, following a traffic stop, both the driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested on outstanding warrants from North Carolina. The driver’s warrant was for drugs, and the passenger, for probation. The passenger’s two-year-old daughter was turned over to the child’s father at the scene. The pair were arrested and transferred to N.C. officials.
5500 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On July 31 a woman reported that her gym locker was entered and the contents including a wallet, iPhone, makeup bag, and other items were taken. Another person said she saw a woman going into the locker of another person. The suspect is an employee of the café at the gym. The officers, with witness statements and the fact that some of the stolen items were in the possession of the suspect, made an arrest, charging her with three counts of theft and one count of criminal trespass.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On Aug. 1 employees detained a man who came in and took meat and a five-liter keg of Heineken beer, and walked out without paying. He was arrested.
Other Stuff
A woman reported that she received a threatening text that said “play’in b*!$% ill kill ya son too hoe.”
The threat had to be assumed since the grammar was so bad that we cannot tell if the suspect is talking about role playing, her son or some farming tools.
A man reported that he and his sister got into a verbal argument over the fact that he had given their dog away to someone else.
An officer was in the Chattahoochee National Park on Roberts Drive on an unrelated call. During that time he passed a wooden picnic table where a man was sitting, pants at his knees, and who appeared to be masturbating. The man said he wasn’t masturbating, but had fallen into the mud earlier and thought he would clean himself up while no one was looking. He was cited for public indecency.
A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend has been text messaging her and threatening her by saying “I’m about to deal with you real speak.”
