Selig Enterprises, the developer behind the controversial plan to transform Decatur’s Suburban Plaza into the home of a Walmart Supercenter, has announced it is in negotiations to also bring a HomeGoods store, Joann’s and Ross Dress for Less and a Starbucks with drive-thru as additional anchors for the shopping center. Along with Walmart, Selig has already secured a lease for a new LA Fitness location for the property.

In an open letter posted on the Medlock Area Neighborhood Association website, Selig’s senior vice-president, William Stogner, writes that he believes his company will win in court and be allowed to move forward with Suburban Plaza’s redevelopment by year’s end. Good Growth DeKalb, a neighborhood citizens’ group, has filed suit to stop the development.
