Tickets are still available for the vintage themed Decatur Dinner Party, which will be held Sept. 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Decatur Cemetery. Tickets are $125 through Aug. 30, and $150 after, and can be purchased at DecaturDinnerParty.brownpapertickets.com. The event benefits the Decatur Kitchen Garden project.
Steinbeck’s and Leon’s Full Service have taken the lead with some of Decatur’s finest restaurants and local farms to provide the menu, of locally sourced, fresh dishes that highlight talent of Decatur’s chefs. This limited attendance event will feature live music, beer and a wine list hand selected by Perrine’s Wine Shop.
Former Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd is chairing the host committee for this event, saying “this project was special for me during my last few years as Mayor.” In a little over a year, Decatur’s Kitchen Garden has created a place where over 30 refugee families grow healthy food and create economic opportunities for themselves and their communities. The Global Growers Network of Refugee Family Services broke ground on the garden this past March at Decatur’s United Methodist Children’s Home.
