Two new candidates qualified for election to Dunwoody City Council on Aug. 30, but incumbent Councilwoman Adrian Bonser did not file for reelection prior to the end of the qualification period, City Clerk Sharon Lowery said.

David Davis, a small business owner, filed for election in District 1, Post 1, Lowery said. William A.J. Mercier qualified in District 2, Post 2.

In the Nov. 5 election, Davis will challenge incumbent Councilman Denis Shortal and Henley Shelton in District 1.

In District 2, Mercier faces Jim Riticher and Heyward Wescott.

Councilman Doug Thompson faces Sam Eads in the race for the District 3, Post 2 seat.

Shelton, Riticher and Eads have announced they intend to run as a slate. They called themselves the “clean sweep” candidates.
