The Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta is reporting that the St. Thomas More Society of Atlanta gave one of its public service awards to state Rep. Wendell Willard, R-Sandy Springs.
The Catholic Archdiocese newsletter “The Georgia Bulletin” said Willard received the St. Thomas More award for his work on juvenile justice reform. The other award recipient was Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Hugh P. Thompson.
The awards were presented at the Red Mass, held Oct. 10 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Atlanta.
St. Thomas More Society President Robert Baker said “Representative Wendell Willard led the successful legislative effort to reform Georgia’s juvenile justice laws, which was long overdue. These reforms will ensure that juvenile justice is administered more effectively and humanely to help Georgia’s children and families.”
Willard is also the city attorney for Sandy Springs.
