The following incidents and arrests are some but not all of the reports filed with SSPD over the listed period, dated through Oct. 25.
The following information was provided by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
Robbery
5700 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Oct. 17, a store owner said he walked around to the outside entrance to the store’s restroom when he was hit on the head by a young man, who demanded money. He took a gold bracelet off the store owner’s wrist and fled down Northwood Drive. The victim was treated at the scene for scrapes.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Oct. 24, a 33-year-old man reported that just before 4 p.m. he was in his apartment when he heard the door open. He found two men, one of whom pointed a gun at him. They took a phone and checked the other rooms in the apartment before leaving. He was unhurt.
Burglary
5700 block of Treelodge Parkway 30350 – On Oct. 12, someone forced entry to the victim’s apartment and took a number of electronic items including video game systems and a 50” television.
200 block of Marsh Trail 30350 – On Oct. 12, the resident left for 90 minutes about 8 p.m., and upon returning, found that someone had taken his laptop. There was no forced entry. The door was left unlocked.
8300 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On Oct. 12, responding to an alarm, officers found that someone had forced a side door open. It looks like Lotto tickets, cigarettes and maybe cash were taken.
NOTE: If you want to steal lotto tickets, you’re wasting your time. Most thieves sell them to those who believe the tickets won’t be earmarked.
6400 block of Cherry Tree Lane 30328 – On Oct. 15, a woman said she was gone for a while and upon return found a carport door kicked in. Items were taken from the home, including jewelry.
1800 block of The Valley 30328 – On Oct. 15, someone entered the apartment through a glass window and took several items including a laptop, jewelry and an Apple MacBook.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Oct. 16, someone broke into the apartment through a forced open window. Several items were taken.
400 block of West Spalding Drive 30328 – On Oct. 17, officers received an alarm just before 1 p.m. and were informed by the resident that an open kitchen window was found. It appears that the alarm scared off the burglar-to-be.
300 block of Winding River Drive 30350 – On Oct. 17, someone entered the apartment through a sliding door that was not properly aligned on the track. (It had been lowered, leaving a gap that a tool could be inserted and the door pried.) Missing is a WII game system and jewelry.
800 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – On Oct. 20, someone accessed the interior of an office building which houses multiple tenants. Several businesses were entered. At least one laptop and TV were reported missing.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Oct. 21, someone entered the apartment (no force) and took several items including a TV, video game system and games, clothes and a smartphone.
1st block of Cedar Run 30350 – On Oct. 21, a computer was taken after someone forced open a back door to the victim’s apartment. The suspect was seen by a witness who knows him and identified that he had a computer (in a bag) with him at the time. The suspect is known to the victim as well because they are all in a drug recovery program.
7200 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On Oct. 22. someone took two computers from the apartment’s business office.
5900 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30342 – On Oct. 23, three laptops were taken from a business office. The point of entry was a door at the side of the building. Pry marks were found on the new steel plate the company installed the day before.
Theft
6300 block of North Hampton Drive 30350 – On Oct. 12, a 2012 Dodge Charger was reported stolen. An ex-boyfriend has a key.
8600 block of Roberts Drive 30350 – On Oct. 12, a 2006 Mazda was reported stolen. The owner suspected a friend took the car. She later found it at the “Stagecoach” Bar on Metropolitan Parkway.
1st block of Cedar Run 30350 – On Oct. 12, a woman reported that her boyfriend got mad over some phone numbers in her cellphone and then stole some of her stuff, including a dust pan. Later, she got into her car, and her boyfriend then boxed her in with his car, walked up to her car, took her keys and then drove off.
6000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On Oct. 14, a woman reported that she was at a nightclub and walked to her car at about 1:30 a.m. where she found a man going through her car. The man ran and got into a small, 4-door sedan and left. Nothing was reported missing.
7000 block of Hunters Branch Drive 30328 – On Oct. 14, a woman reported that sometime between Oct. 12 and Oct. 13, someone took jewelry from her home. She said there was a social event at the home on Oct. 12, and that one of the guests could have taken the items from her jewelry drawer in her bedroom.
Riverhill Drive — A woman said someone stole jewelry and an iPod from a drawer in her home. This occurred sometime between April 1 and Sept. 1 of this year.
8900 block of River Run 30350 – On Oct. 15, a woman said she let a woman house sit for her. Later she found a credit card, suitcase, jewelry, cash and a cellphone were taken. The house sitter admitted to the theft and said she would pay it back. She has not done so.
200 block of Stone Mill Trail 30328 – On Oct. 17, a 2007 Toyota 4Runner was reported stolen.
1100 block of Hightower Trail 30350 – On Oct. 19, two A/C units were stolen from an office building. The units were taken for their copper wiring and tubing components.
7800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On Oct. 19, a cabbie reported that his fare, brought from Six Flags, ditched the driver on the $85 fare.
8100 block of Colquitt Road 30350 – On Oct. 20, a man reported his Galaxy phone was stolen by people in his apartment whom he carefully noted should be called “acquaintances” and not “friends.” His inquiry, prior to the police arrival, went like this: Nero had previously stolen an HTC phone from Bobby. Rico, a co-worker, said he wouldn’t do that. Demaria, who is Nero’s brother, was also named. The phone was valued at $150.
5900 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30342 – On Oct. 21, an employee reported several computers were stolen from a workplace.
1600 block of Dunwoody Club Drive 30350 – On Oct. 21, a man reported that while he was playing tennis at a country club someone went into his unlocked locker and took his wallet. Cash, credit cards and ID were taken.

Fraud
6300 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On Oct. 14, someone accessed the man’s personal information and applied for credit in his name.
7800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On Oct. 14, a woman reported that someone fraudulently cashed her check.
A woman reported that she ran her credit history and found that someone opened several accounts in her name between 2007 and 2012.
A man reported that someone transferred $350 from his account online without his authorization.
5500 block of New Northside Drive 30342 – On Oct. 16, a bank employee said a man came in and tried to cash a fraudulent check for just over $800. Upon checking, the employee was told the check was fraudulent. They said the man waited for a short time, then left.
A woman reported someone used her personal information to open an account at a store for the amount of just over $1,800.
A woman reported someone gained access to her credit union card and ran up over $1,300 on the card at several retail establishments in the metro area.
A man reported that he was on an online job posting site and responded to an HR position with a company in Indiana. The company sent him large amounts of money to deposit into his account. A company representative, communicating through Yahoo Messenger, said they were sending him a computer, and he needed to send money from the account to cover the cost. He sent over $7,000 to cover these costs, and later found that the checks written to him were fraudulent. The money he sent went via MoneyGram to various names in different states. The Indiana company has posted a fraud alert notice that someone was impersonating them.
A man reported that someone accessed his information and had attempted to obtain wired funds from the victim’s Ameritrade accounts. One attempt was for over $46,000 and the second for just over $36,000. The first attempt was successful. Later, the victim found that his cable was not working properly. The repair worker found that the phone lines had been forwarded to an unknown number.
A man reported that someone accessed his information, and used his name and Social Security number. The victim was notified after his credit-monitoring company notified him his credit score dropped. He found that a collection company from Arlington, Texas, was involved. The victim said the collection company has information on a suspect.
A man reported that he was contacted by a credit agency that he owed $1,700 in loans. Someone used his name and took out the loans on the Internet.
A 27-year-old woman reported that she was contacted by someone saying he was an immigration officer and needed a payment. The person never gave a name. The victim withdrew $1,000 from her account and put the money on a MoneyPack card and gave the card number to the immigration officer. She later called but never was able to contact the person again.
Assault
A woman on North River said on Oct. 14 that her live-in boyfriend had beaten her, pulled her hair and left when she called police. She said they had been arguing over his taking her car and debit card, and going to a nightclub. She said her boyfriend is unemployed, but is trying to be a “club promoter.” She was given warrant information.
5600 block of Roswell Road — On Oct. 14, at a grocery store, a woman called police and said she was in the checkout line using coupons when the woman behind her became angry that it was taking so long. The woman began to complain loudly in the line. The two left the store and the argument continued outside in the lot. The woman said she would run over the victim. The other woman backed out and (for some reason) the victim was behind her car. The other woman got out of the car and the argument continued until an employee showed up. The other woman left.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On Oct. 15, cops were called to a fast-food restaurant and spoke to a man who said he hired a contractor to frame a garage. He said the price was high and the work sloppy, so he met the contractor at the restaurant, he told the contractor the additional money he wanted on the job was too high. The contractor screamed at the man, backhanded his drink onto the victim and pointed his finger in the victim’s face. The contractor then left.
1100 block of Hightower Trail 30350 – On Oct. 16, the owner of a pressure-washing company said an employee has been keeping some money due to the company, so he let the man go. The man became enraged and assaulted the victim, at one time putting his hands around the man’s throat. The man then fled. Warrants are pending.

Arrests
800 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – On Oct. 14, an officer observed a man run into traffic, causing cars to swerve to avoid him. The officer pulled up and told the man to come to his car. The man smiled and ran. The officer lost sight of him, but had him on car video. An employee of the building the man ran to said he knew the man and identified him. The officer went to the front office of the building and found the man hiding in the bathroom. He was arrested.
1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – On Oct. 14, two persons were arrested after a shoplifting call to sports equipment store about 8:30 p.m. The two took men’s and women’s athletic apparel, concealed it and left the store. They got into an orange Chevy Camaro and left. The car was spotted and stopped a short distance away. The pair was arrested.
8700 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On Oct. 15, employees of a grocery store observed a woman putting two Aveeno creams in her cart and walk into the bathroom. She later checked out without paying for the items. She had removed the package and concealed the cream. She was arrested on the items, totaling $22.
400 block of Morgan Falls Road — Greene County, Tenn. called on a woman wanted by them who was living in Sandy Springs in. They located her leaving with a man, and pulled the car over. The man, from North Carolina, was a felon (drug user.) The officer found methamphetamine in the man’s pocket and later more contraband in the car. The K-9 unit was called and more drugs were located, and the man and woman were arrested.
6300 block of Powers Ferry Road 30342 – On Oct. 15, a woman was observed stealing a mini-bottle of Sutter Home Pinot Grigio and putting it in her purse. She was detained and later arrested.
6400 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On Oct. 15, a woman was arrested at ahome improvement store after she stole a pair of pliers and a bottle of contact cement valued at $30.
8100 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On Oct. 16, cops were called to speak to a complainant who said a female frequently loiters in the parking lot and when spoken to, becomes volatile, curses loudly and makes threatening gestures. The woman was arrested.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Oct. 16, security officers at a discount store watched as two people pulled price tags off baby clothes and DVDs, and then leave the store without paying. They were detained. The female of the pair was released on copy since the couple had a small child in the shopping cart while they were stealing. The man was taken to jail. The woman has a court date to show.
5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Oct. 19, a woman was arrested for stealing $101 in clothing items from a discount store. Also on that date, a man was arrested for stealing a MP3 player as well as $188 in DVDs.
6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On Oct. 20, employees of a restaurant called the police after a woman damaged a wall when she pulled a table away from it. The woman was intoxicated, and got irate and started saying things. She went to jail.
5700 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Oct. 20, a man was arrested for loitering at a gas station. He had some marijuana in his pocket as well. He had been given previous warnings not to loiter at that location.
Windridge Drive 30350 — On Oct. 20, at a man was arrested after he stole a $1,200 bicycle that was briefly unattended while the owner was moving from the apartment. The owner learned of the theft, drove around and located a suspect on the bike. The suspect ditched the bike and ran with the owner chasing him. The owner lost sight of the suspect; however officers arrived and located the suspect at the Shell station not far away.
5900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On Oct. 21, an officer, patrolling in the parking lot of Whole Foods, spotted two persons he recognized from a lookout posted in Forsyth County. The two were also “persons of interest” in several burglaries in Sandy Springs. When the two saw the officer, they got into a Chevy Impala, but the officer blocked them in and they were taken into custody. They were later turned over to Forsyth County detectives. A number of burglaries are cleared with this arrest.

Other Stuff
A woman reported that she has received a series of calls from a man who breathes heavily and says he is coming to get her. The calls were repetitive over a 15-minute time span around 6 p.m.
5800 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On Oct. 19, two men tangled over a parking spot accident that struck the side mirror of one man’s Corvette.
500 block of Montrose Lane 30328 – On Oct. 19, a man reported 1,000 holes were dug in his back yard by a burrowing rodent. The holes knocked over a wood pile.
Greyfield Lane 30350 — A woman reported that on she was behind a car that was driving in the parking lot slowly and rolled over a speed hump but didn’t clear it. The car rolled back so the victim hit the horn. The driver got out, beat on the driver’s window, and threatened to shoot her. She said she thinks the man was drunk.
8300 block of Roswell Road — The manager of a restaurant said a man tried to pass a counterfeit $50 that he recognized as fake. The man fled when the police were called.
A woman reported that her ex-husband, while on the phone, threatened to shoot her.
