It’s a 8 degrees in the Old Fourth Ward with a wind chill of -9. That’s almost balmy after some parts of Intown reported 5 degrees overnight. Temperatures are expected to rise to 27 today then drop back to 16 tonight, according to the latest report from the Weather Channel. By the weekend, we’ll have warmed back up to the mid-60s.

Year of Boulevard 2014 kicked off last night with a special event at Fort Street United Methodist Church. Despite the cold, more than 300 people turned out to hear a recap of 2013’s progress in revitalizing the Old Fourth Ward corridor and hear about plans for 2014. Big news: MailChimp, which is moving its headquarters into Ponce City Market, agreed to fully fund the Wheat Street Urban Garden Summer Camp for kids this year. Decatur Police are investigating a claim of racial profiling by its officers against former city school board member Don Denard, according to a report at Decaturish. Denard said he was stopped by officers after he left his house for a walk.
