Nearly 200 volunteers turned out earlier this month for the groundbreaking for Lindsay Street Park, the first for the English Avenue neighborhood.
Volunteers from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation rolled up their sleeves and cleared brush, debris, and invasive species on the future park site. Later this spring, neighborhood residents will begin construction on the park.
Besides having a new greenspace in the community, the project will have measurable economic impacts for these residents throughout its construction and management, including workforce training, temporary jobs, and a creek that no longer spills sewage into nearby streets and homes.
The park will feature a playground, children’s garden, a trail along Proctor Creek and rain gardens.
Funded in part by a grant from Blank Foundation as part of its mission to help rebuild and preserve communities near the new Falcons stadium, The Conservation Fund acquired an assemblage of six properties in English Avenue to build the park.
