George Dusenbury, Atlanta’s commissioner of parks and recreation, will leave May 16 for an undisclosed job in the private sector, according to a report in the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Dusenbury is credited with stabilizing the parks and recreation department – reopening the city’s 16 closed recreation centers and implementing the mayor’s Centers of Hope initiative.
The Residence Buckhead Atlanta has opened a leasing office for the 370 apartments that will be located inside the eight-acre development, according to a report in BuckheadView. The apartments will be spread out over two 20-story buildings and offer studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, a limited number of three-bedroom apartments and penthouse suites. The temporary leasing office is located at 265 Buckhead Ave. Published rent prices range from $1,579 per month for a studio to $3,844 per month for a two-bedroom.
The Atlanta Track Club has announced it will “suspend” the annual Atlanta Marathon to focus on a newer race, the Atlanta 10 Miler and 5K at Atlantic Station on Oct. 26. A media release from the club said a review of the two events showed a disproportionate amount of the organization’s resources were being dedicated to the marathon with the number of participants dwindling. Both the Atlanta 10 Miler and 5K were introduced in 2013 and attracted more participants in its inaugural year than the Atlanta Marathon. For about the 10 Miler and 5k visit atlantatrackclub.org.
