Georgia State University and development team Carter and Columbia Residential want Turner Field and its vast parking lots to create a new southern campus and mixed-use development.

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, GSU wants to convert The Ted into a new 30,000-seat football stadium and build other athletic facilities, student housing, classrooms and green space. The mixed-used component would feature shops, restaurants, retail, hotels and single-family and apartment homes in the surrounding area.
