Doc Chey’s has announced that it’s Emory Village location will be transformed into a new concept, Doc’s Dragon Bowl (dragonbowlatl.com) in late summer. Dragon bowls were first introduced as rotating specials at Doc Chey’s locations. Guests will create their meals from a seasonal list of ingredients listed on the menu each day. To assemble a dragon bowl, diners will choose their “style” of vegetables and sauce (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese or Garden), base (ramen, grain-blend, rice noodles or salad mix), and protein (freshly grilled chicken, ribeye, pork belly or tofu).
The second annual Surfin’ Saturday: Atlanta Food Truck Park & Event Center Surf Fest is May 10, from noon to 7 p.m. The music lineup includes s The Mystery Men, El Capitan & The Band with No Name, Moonbase, Gemini 13, The Surge!, The Crowkeepers and The Monterreys. Guests will be able to dine on a wide array of cuisine from food trucks as well as festive tropical cocktails from Raising the Bar. The park is at 1850 Howell Mill Road and admission is free. The 12th annual Taste of the Highlands will be held May 17 from 2 to 5 p.m. at John Howell Park in Virginia-Highland. Taste of the Highlands benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and features menu samples from area restaurants. Last year, the event raised over $39,000. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 the day of the event. They can be purchased at tasteofthehighlands.com.
Cook Out should has its first Intown location in the former Mrs. Winners spot in East Atlanta. A second location on Northside Drive near Georgia Tech is expected to open in late summer. Like the West Coast’s In-N-Out Burger, Cook Out also has a loyal, cultish following for its burgers, fries, onion rings and shakes.
Atlanta-based Boneheads Grilled Fish and Chicken (eatboneheads.com) has opened a new location at 264 Pharr Road in Buckhead. The sixth location of the franchise is located in the Eclipse building, in the space formerly occupied by Aqua Bistro.
Willy’s Mexicana Grill (willys.com) has opened a 3,562-square-foot restaurant in Cherokee Plaza, 3883 Peachtree Road, in Brookhaven. The local franchise, which serves California-style burritos, chips and fresh salsas, now has 23 locations around metro Atlanta.
Mod Restaurant, a Japanese steakhouse, will open in July in the former Turffles Grill (and before that Ruby Tuesday) space on Lenox Road in Buckhead.

King + Duke (kinganddukeatl.com) in Buckhead, 3060 Peachtree Road, is now offering Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Atlanta-based SweetWater has been named one of the top 20 craft breweries in the nation by the Brewers Association. The 2013 ranking putting SweetWater at No. 19, moving up five slots from 2012. SweetWater also recently announced a partnership with the Atlanta Braves to be the exclusive craft beer partner at Turner Field.
