Hundreds of runners raced the streets of Brookhaven on May 17 during the seventh annual Brookhaven Bolt, a fundraiser for Ashford Park Elementary School. Altogether, 1,766 people signed up for the bolt and 1,608 crossed the finish line, race promoters said on their Facebook page. The race raised $47,000 for Ashford Park Elementary, promoters said. Ashford Park, Montgomery & Sarah Smith Elementary School run clubs and other kids in the 14 & under categories totaled approximately 300 runners, the sponsors said.
