Atlanta City Councilmember Mary Norwood has encouraged Buckhead residents to attend a July 16 meeting where the public will have input on the City of Atlanta’s proposed bond referendum to help pay for a $900 million backlog in infrastructure repair and upgrades.
“It’s important for Buckhead to come out and be part of this process,” Norwood said at last night’s Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods’ meeting.
The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northside Activity Center, 1705 Commerce Drive, NW. For residents in East Atlanta, there will be a meeting on July 15 at Drew Charter School, 301 East Lake Boulevard, SE, also from 6 to 8 p.m.
The public is helping to determine priority and criteria to improve the city’s roads, bridges, sidewalks and expand green spaces. Norwood said the city council would select a list of projects for the referendum in September and vote by the end of the year. The referendum will then go to a special called election on St. Patrick’s Day 2015.
