If it seems like your mail is being delivered later and later these days, you’re not imagining it. According to a report at CNN, cost-cutting measures and a shrinking work force, means U.S. Postal Service carriers are delivering mail after 5 p.m. more than four days a week. Atlanta, Washington DC, Richmond, Arlington and South Florida topped the list of cities and areas receiving mail after 5 p.m. The results were issued in a new report this week by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
Tishman Speyer plans to break ground next month on Three Alliance Center, a 30-story office tower in Buckhead that will be Atlanta’s first speculative office building in almost seven years. According to a report in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the New York developer has construction financing for the $175 million project and wants to finish the tower by September 2016.
Atlanta City Councilman Michael Julian Bond has floated the idea of putting a new civic center at the city-owned Bellwood Quarry (you’ll recognize it from The Walking Dead). The 350-acre quarry site with it’s dramatic, sheer rock faces and blue-green water is supposed to be transformed into Westside Reservoir Park and become one of the jewels of the Atlanta BeltLine’s west side. According to a report in Creative Loafing, Bond thinks the quarry would be an excellent site for a new civic center once the city sells of the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center on Piedmont Avenue.
