MARTA rail customers will able to pick up a quick breakfast or do some shopping while waiting for the train as the transit system ramps up the next phase of its concessions program. MARTA has partnered with real estate firm Greystone Management Solutions for station site selection and retail mix. An invitation for bids (IFB) will be released in the coming months for the expanded program. MARTA also recently issued an IFB for a six-month pilot food truck concessions program at its Vine City station during Georgia Dome events, which will include the upcoming Atlanta Falcons football season.

The Atlanta Police Department has appointed Officer Eric King as a new LBGT liaison. King joins SPO Brian Sharp as the two LGBT liaisons for the department. King has been with the APD for five years and was recently assigned to Zone 4 where he was a bicycle officer in the West End and Greenbriar Mall areas. “I am honored to serve as an LBGT liaison for the Atlanta Police Department and I want to strengthen relationships and improve the communication between the Department and the LBGT community,” King said. New Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Meria Carstarphen announced a program that will give APS students who graduate as valedictorian or salutatorian full tuition scholarships to Georgia Tech The new program is called APS Scholars@Georgia Tech, according to a report at WABE.
