The Atlanta Police Department has arrested Aeman Lovel Presley, 34, and charged him with the murder of two homeless men before Thanksgiving, while the Decatur Police Department has issued a warrant for Presley’s arrest in Saturday’s killing of Karen Pearce in Downtown Decatur.

Presley is charged with the shooting deaths of Dorian Jenkins, who was shot on Ralph McGill Boulevard on Nov. 23, and Tommy Mims, who was found Nov. 26 on Northside Drive near Whitehall Street. Both men were shot while they slept wrapped in bedding on the streets.

Pearce, a hairstylist from Smyrna, was found shot to death behind shops and restaurants in the 100 block of East Ponce de Leon Avenue after leaving Leon’s Full Service on Saturday night, Dec. 6.

Both police departments said there would be no further statements at this time.

However, according to Creative Loafing, MARTA Police apprehended Presley after he unlawfully entered the fare gate at the Georgia State station. After a scuffle with officers, Presley was arrested and police found a revolver and ammunition on his person.

  1. I hope the police have the right guy, but it sure seems like a stretch to me. I’m not sure how putting multiple bullets into homeless men sleeping downtown relates to an apparent murder/robbery of a lone woman in Decatur. Maybe all the bullets were fired from the same gun and it’s the one found on the suspect. I certainly hope so. It would be nice to have certainty about getting the killer(s) off the streets. And, if this is right, kudos to the Atlanta, Decatur and MARTA police for working together and finding this guy so quickly.
