Ann Brewer, founder of the Morningside Famers Market, passed away on Jan. 2. According to a post at The Cook’s Warehouse Facebook page, the market opened 20 years ago and is still popular today. The market is well-known not only for its mix of organic goods, but weekly cooking demonstrations by local chefs. Chef Ron Eyester of Rosebud took over hosting the demos after Brewer recently fell ill.

The Atlanta Police Department, investigators and Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta are stepping up efforts to find the suspect who randomly attacked a gay man at the corner of 11th and Juniper on March 7 of last year. The GA Voice has much more about the incident and video, but police reports state that the victim was walking from a restaurant with his partner when he was punched in the back by a young, light-skinned male wearing a red shirt and Atlanta Braves cap. After the punch, the victim fell into oncoming traffic on Juniper. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible.
