UPDATE: Sandy Springs have identified a vehicle that may have been involved in an I-285 fatality. Investigators are looking for a white pickup truck and may have had a camper shell on its bed.

Sandy Springs Police have identified the victim from the pedestrian fatality on I-285 Thursday morning at Gayla Joyce Walker, a 53-year-old Dunwoody resident.

According to police, a 911 call shortly after 6 a.m. on Jan. 22 reported a possible animal blocking several lanes. Officers discovered that a human body was apparently struck by several vehicles and was unrecognizable. Investigators determined that the victim walked onto the interstate and was struck by a large vehicle.

The interstate was shut down for several hours as officials conducted the investigation.
