Parading cyclists and young artists gathered Jan. 24 to celebrated the opening of PATH400 in Buckhead. Art works by 10 students from Buckhead schools were used in the designs of metal panels mounted on railings along the trail.
A panel of judges reviewed more than 150 designs submitted by kindergarten through fifth-grade students, looking to see which were best suited to be replicated on the 6-foot-tall steel panels, Livable Buckhead said. Finalists, shown bottom right, were chosen and 10 designs were selected for manufacturing and installation along the first phase of PATH400. Each panel is backed in different colored plexiglass, allowing sunlight to shine through and light the design from behind, casting colorful patterns on the trail.
