More than 100 people gathered March 31 to formally open Charlie Loudermilk Park in the triangle at the meeting of Roswell and Peachtree roads in Buckhead Village.
“I love it,” Loudermilk said as he greeted well-wishers before the ceremony to open the $2.8 million park. “It turned out better than I thought it might. … I think they did pretty well.”
City officials, including Mayor Kasim Reed, praised the Buckhead business owner for his involvement in the community. Reed said Loudermilk played “an essential role in shaping the Atlanta we know today.”
The park features a clock tower and a statue of Loudermilk that faces the Buckhead Theater.
