
A Brookhaven man has been arrested and charged with a criminal attempt of child molestation, police say.
Gregory Stott, 55, on March 21 went to meet for sex who he expected to be an underage girl, department spokesman Carlos Nino said in a press release. Scott instead met up with uncover Brookhaven Police detectives, who arrested Stott.
The arrest stems from an investigation by the Brookhaven Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, which is also assigned to work Internet Crimes Against Children. Through undercover investigation of Internet file sharing networks, investigators were able to determine that Stott was soliciting sex online targeting young girls.
During the investigation, detectives posed as an underage girl for a period of two weeks until Stott wanted to meet.
On the meeting date, based on what he disclosed to undercover detectives, his vehicle was located and surveillance was conducted. He then drove to the meeting location where he was arrested without incident.
According to DeKalb County records, Stott posted a $2,500 bond and was released March 25.
