boiling waterA broken water main continues to cause issues in Decatur and DeKalb with the entire county now under a water boil advisory until further notice.

Repair crews have been trying to fix the broken main at Henderson Mill and Evans roads near Tucker since Thursday night. The large transmission line was thought to have been repaired Friday, but leaks were detected again Saturday. As repairs continue overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, some residents and businesses may lose water altogether.

According to a report in the AJC, the ongoing water issues have caused havoc on Decatur’s busy dining and bar scene with many opting to close or limit service. If you’re headed out this evening for dinner or a drink, you might want to call ahead or check social media.

Earlier today, the giant water slide event in Decatur, Slide the City, was only open for a short time before closing due to water pressure issues. Refunds will be offered for those who didn’t get a chance to slide. Decatur also opened cooling stations for those who were without adequate water pressure or air conditioning.
