The Center for Puppetry Arts has announced it will officially open its Worlds of Puppetry museum addition on Nov. 14. The space will house the Global Collection gallery and the Jim Henson Collection gallery, the world’s most comprehensive collection of the work of the creator of The Muppets.
“Great museums are characterized by their ability to continually educate, inspire and evolve,” said the Center Executive Director Vincent Anthony. “This is a true turning point for the Center for Puppetry Arts – and we welcome visitors to come discover the magic and wonder that lie behind these doors.”
The 7,500 square foot museum space will also feature a renovated entryway, expanded museum store, new research library and more to the existing space, which was the historic Spring Street Elementary School in Midtown.
Grand opening festivities will include walk-around Henson characters, photo opportunities and other activities to make the day a festival-like celebration. The annual production of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will also be on stage.
