Launched less than a week ago, the Oakhurst Porchfest already has 35 homes and counting signed up for the Oct. 18 event in the Decatur neighborhood. The event will run from 2-6 p.m. and will feature musical performances on the porches and an opportunity for neighbors to connect and explore their community by foot or bike.

According to Sarah Seaton-Todd from the Decatur Arts Alliance, the idea for Oakhurst Porchfest came from a similar event created eight years ago in Ithaca, New York. Many other neighborhoods all around the country have taken the model and run with it.

If you live in in Oakhurst and want to sign up as a porch host or are a musician looking to perform, visit the website at oakhurstporchfest.org.
