Former President Jimmy Carter addressed the media Thursday morning at The Carter Center in Poncey-Highland for the first time since he announced he’s been diagnosed with cancer.
Carter had cancerous tumor on his liver removed on Aug. 3, but further testing showed four small spots of melanoma on his brain, according to CBS46. Carter said he planned to rearrange his schedule so that he can undergo radiation treatments starting this afternoon at Emory University Hospital.
He said will cut back on his obligations at The Carter Center, but will continue to make funding calls and hold regular meetings with directors. He also plans to continue teaching Sunday school in his hometown of Plains, GA as long as he is able.
