City officials joined the Consul General of France in Atlanta, Denis Barbet, for a moment of silence this afternoon at City Hall to remember the victims of Friday’s terrorist attack in Paris. Tonight, City Hall will be lit in the tricolor of the French flag as a show of solidarity.

“Atlanta is united with the people of Paris against violence and terrorism. To show our support, the Atlanta City Hall tower will be illuminated tonight in the colors of the national flag of France: red, white & blue,” City Council President Ceasar Mitchell said. “May God bless the French people and all of those around the world who embrace freedom, nonviolence and humanitarian principles.”

The Georgia Aquarium and SkyView Ferris Wheel, which used to sit near the Louvre in Paris, have also been lit in the tricolor.

The office of the Consulate General of France in Buckhead has a condolence book for the public to sign in its lobby at Buckhead Tower, 3399 Peachtree Rd. NE, Suite 500.

This morning, Mayor Kasim Reed said security would be beefed up at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, around theaters, shopping centers and other places where people gather.
