Lifeline Animal Project, the nonprofit group that manages the DeKalb and Fulton animal shelters, says it set a record for animal adoptions over the “Black Friday/Cyber Monday” weekend.
Altogether, 361 animals headed to new homes over the weekend during a free animal adoption promotion, Lifeline said in a press release.
“We asked the Atlanta community to step up and adopt, and in our wildest dreams, we never thought they would turnout in such large numbers to adopt and save lives,” said Fulton shelter director Lara Hudson. “The employees here were so moved by seeing 109 pets adopted on Black Friday, that there was hardly a dry eye in the shelter at the end of the day. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support and know that with their support, LifeLine can achieve its goal of being no-kill by the end of 2016.”
More than 300 animals remain in the shelters (more than 600 at both), so LifeLine is continuing free adoptions on all dogs over 25 lbs. and all cats during its “Home for the Pawlidays” promotion, scheduled to last through Dec. 31.
