A development team has been selected by the Atlanta Housing Authority Board of Commissioners to redevelop the 12-acre former Herndon Homes site alongside Northside Drive near the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium into a mixed-income community. According to a report at the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Atlanta Housing Authority will partner on the project with a development team made up of Hunt Development Group and Oakwood Development Group.

The issue of who should control the Atlanta Streetcar remains a bone of contention between Mayor Kasim Reed and some members of the Atlanta City Council. According to SaportaReport, Councilmembers Kwanza Hall and Felicia Moore both believe the streetcar should be under control of MARTA. The Atlanta Streetcar still faces closure by the Georgia Department Transportation if a laundry list of maintenance, personnel and safety issues aren’t adequately addressed. Reed’s administration hopes to extend the streetcar system east to connect to the Atlanta BeltLine.

The latest conversion is located in Old Fourth Ward, just a few blocks from Krog Street Market, according to Curbed Atlanta. Built in 1940 as the McGruder Street Church of God in Christ, the building will be reborn as a duplex, according to permits.
