Brookhaven Det. David Snively said a male victim was found by neighbors at about 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the driveway of his house.

He had been shot in the upper area of his body, according to Snively. The neighbors rendered aid and called 911.

When police arrived, they were able to use a department-issued tourniquet and also give aid to the victim before an ambulance arrived.

“A preliminary investigation indicates the victim may have interrupted a burglary at his home,” Snively said. The victim was able to leave his house after he had been shot and flag down a passing motorist.

The victim was able to give police a description of a male suspect weighing about 200 pounds and about 6-feet tall. The suspect fled the scene on foot, according to Snively.

The victim was transported to Grady Hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition.

The police continue to search for the suspect and investigate the shooting.
