A Brookhaven private house party on Saturday, Aug. 27, that neighbors know to be a kickoff to the college football season and also a fundraiser for local hospitals, was marred by a serious fire that injured one DeKalb County firefighter, according to broadcast partner CBS 46.
DeKalb fire investigators continue to try to determine what caused the fire that severely damaged the house in the 1100 block of Wimberly Road.
None of the more than 100 guests at the home, including many small children, were injured, according to CBS 46.
Officials say one firefighter inhaled some smoke but was expected to recover soon.
