Sandy Spring police are seeking a suspect who robbed the Wells Fargo on Roswell Road on Sept. 6 and made off with $5,000 in cash.

The robbery happen about 11 a.m. at the Wells Fargo bank at 8721 Roswell Road. According to a Sandy Springs police report, a man entered the bank and gave a note to a bank teller demanding $5,000.

The teller gave the man the money and he fled the scene and was seen driving away in a black Dodge Charger, heading north on Roswell Road and then east onto Dunwoody Place, according to the report.

The suspect was last seen wearing a blue and white striped sweater, blue jeans and a white baseball-style cap.

No weapon was displayed during the robbery.

Officers were able to track the money using a GPS device planted in the cash to the Walmart in Dunwoody at 4725 Ashford-Dunwoody Road, according to a police report. North Atlanta Metro SWAT and the Brookhaven and Dunwoody police departments also responded to the scene on Ashford-Dunwoody Road.

“Officers located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle at the Walmart located at 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Road. It was determined that it was not the suspect’s vehicle and no arrests were made,” states a Sandy Springs Police press release issued Sept. 7.
