Construction workers left a permanent mark on Mercedes-Benz Stadium and celebrated the completion of the stadium’s fixed roof on Oct. 19 by signing one of the final steel beams and setting it in place. The ceremony signified the completion of the stadium’s complex roof structure, which is made up of 36 million pounds of steel. Work will now focus on pre-casting of the lower bowl, finishing of the Fan Plaza, installation of the 91,000 square feet of LED video boards, installation of the 8-petal, mechanized portion of the roof and more.
