A Decatur municipal court judge has resigned after jailing a woman for perjury, saying she’d lied about a traffic ticket. Judge Lindsay Jones verbally offered his resignation to the city’s chief municipal judge, but then told the AJC that he had not officially resigned and had no plans to do so. The Decatur city manager said Jones is no longer a member of the court. The resignation comes after Jones sentenced Shari Hurston Tatum to two days in jail for perjury for lying about blocking an intersection.

South City Partners will build new student housing for Georgia State University in Downtown, according to a report at Curbed Atlanta. The 26-story tower, called 120 Piedmont, will rise at the corner of Piedmont and John Wesley Dobbs avenues with beds for 685 students and 8,200 square feet of retail. Amenities will include a pool and clubhouse, Internet cafe, rooftop deck with grilling area, and a library.

The city has adopted the eCitation device, a wireless mobile application which allows Atlanta Police officers to create, print and electronically transmit traffic citations to the Atlanta Municipal Court. The eCitation devices allow APD officers to write traffic tickets and transmit them to the Atlanta Municipal Court in a timely manner.  The system also allows for legible and easier retrieval of traffic citations resulting in a significant time savings due to no data entry required for manually entering traffic tickets.
