The 21st annual Lemonade Days festival scheduled for April 22-26 at Dunwoody’s Brook Run Park has been postponed over concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. A new date has not yet been decided.

The festival, sponsored by the Dunwoody Preservation Trust, typically attracts thousands of people to the park to ride carnival rides, play games, eat food and enjoy live entertainment. Recent federal guidelines recommending no crowds of more than 50 gather together to stem to spread of the coronavirus disease led to the DPT’s board decision to postpone the festival.

“We’re working with the city of Dunwoody Parks Department to secure a new date for the festival and will announce it very soon,” said DPT President MJ Thomas in a news release. “Once we have a new date, please plan to join us and help celebrate what makes our community such a great place to live.”

The annual event is a signature city event and is the largest fundraiser for the Dunwoody Preservation Trust, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve the city’s historic sites and buildings. The event began as a fundraiser following a devastating tornado that struck the city in 1998 so residents could “make lemonade out of lemons.”
