City of Chamblee officials accept the Visionary City Award.

The City of Chamblee has received the 2024 Visionary City Award, an honor granted by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in collaboration with Georgia Trend Magazine.

Presented at the GMA’s Cities United Summit on Jan. 28, this award celebrates Chamblee’s Nonprofit Partnership Program (NPP), a vital initiative that has offered support to local nonprofits throughout the pandemic and beyond.

“The Visionary City Awards recognize the significant impact of programs like Chamblee’s NPP,” said Larry Hanson, CEO and Executive Director of GMA. “This initiative exemplifies the city’s dedication to community support and collaborative problem-solving.”

Chamblee’s NPP initiative has been instrumental in empowering local nonprofits and has strengthened the city’s support network.

“When we started this during the height of the pandemic, the goal was simply to help our nonprofits to survive,” said Chamblee Mayor Brian Mock. “I honestly expected it to last a year or two until times got a little better. However, with our staff’s vision, this program grew into a long-term commitment to help ensure the success of the organizations serving our community. It’s a win-win for everyone involved. What an honor to be recognized by an organization of our peers.”
