Four homes in the Lenox Park neighborhood of Brookhaven were affected by a fire around 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 9. No injuries were reported. Arson investigators from the DeKalb Fire Department found the cause of the fire to be electrical.
The Arbors at Lenox Park is a luxury development of million-dollar single family homes.
The fire happened in District 3 which is led by Brookhaven City Council member Madeleine Simmons.
“It was a scary and tragic morning in Brookhaven when the home fires started in Arbor Trace,” said Simmons.
Two homes were burned completely and two additional homes were damaged. According to Simmons, one of the home owners impacted was out of the country and woke up to the news that his home had burned to the ground.
“Thankfully, we are not aware of any injuries but our hearts are with the neighbors who have lost their memories, treasured keepsakes and beloved homes,” Simmons added.
Neighbors in the development told Simmons that two hours after the fire started, a third home caught on fire.
“The homes are very closely situated, so it’s easy for a fire to get out of control and encompass a couple of homes like it did,” Brookhaven Police Chief Brandon Gurley said.
