A group of 15 retired women from metro Atlanta have crafted and donated several quilts for a good cause.

The local sewing group, referred to as “Nesty,” made a total of 35 decorated blankets for HelpingUkraine.us, a humanitarian relief effort that was created by Georgia businessman Emory Morsberger as a way of providing support to the country of Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.

Nesty was established by the group of retirees as a way of giving back to those in need through community service and camaraderie.

The sewing team meets on a monthly basis with the goal of creating quilts that go towards charitable causes.

Nesty learned about HelpingUkraine.us and its mission through the spouse of one of its group members.

Feeling inspired, the group ultimately decided that they would focus their attention on supporting Ukraine for their latest endeavor.

The completed quilts, which have been on display at the Millennium Gate Museum over the past few days, are being sent this week to Ukrainian villages in need by the Odesa People’s Church — a Pentecostal church based out of Odesa, Ukraine.
