Livable Buckhead announced today that it has received a $40,000 grant from Park Pride to add outdoor fitness equipment along PATH 400 near Old Ivy Park.

Project plans call for six pieces of equipment to be installed underneath the GA 400 overpass, where PATH 400 crosses Old Ivy Road. According to a press release, equipment will include a cross-country ski machine, a two-person accessible chest press, a two-person lateral pull & vertical press, a rowing machine, a leg extension machine, and an air walker

“We are very excited to receive this funding and move forward with the Old Ivy fitness project,” Denise Starling, executive director of Livable Buckhead, said in the press release. “This equipment has long been part of the vision for Old Ivy Park and this section of PATH 400, and we are thrilled to be able to make it a reality thanks to the grant from Park Pride.”

While the number of parks in Buckhead has increased over the past decade, this project will be the first to include outdoor fitness equipment.

Park Pride’s Grantmaking Program awards funding to community groups seeking to revitalize their neighborhood greenspaces. It was established with support from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation and The Home Depot Foundation, with additional funders including Georgia Power, the City of Atlanta, and others through the Parks for All Campaign.

“We are thrilled to contribute to Livable Buckhead’s efforts to bring accessible health and wellness opportunities to the community in pursuit of an improved quality of life for residents,” stated Kayla Altland, Director of Park Pride’s Grantmaking Program.

Livable Buckhead expects to complete the Old Ivy outdoor fitness project toward the end of 2024.
