Ser Familia, which provides mental health services to the Hispanic community in metro Atlanta, will take over the 81,000-square-foot building that formerly was the headquarters of construction company Brasfield & Gorrie. The building is located in Barrett Summit, 1990 Vaughn Road.

“We have a house that is ours and that is going to be a symbol of the presence of the Hispanic community in Cobb,” Ser Familia CEO and co-founder Belisa Urbina said in a press release. “We are excited to embark on this new chapter and continue our mission of supporting and empowering our community.”

Urbina co-founded the nonprofit with her husband Miguel 23 years ago. The nonprofit, which helps families deal with issues such as mental health and domestic violence, is one of the largest Hispanic social service organizations in Georgia.

The newly acquired two-story building contains more than 150 private offices for Ser Familia staff as well as eight large multi-purpose rooms, a workout room and more than 200 parking spaces. It dwarfs the nonprofit’s current 10,000-square-foot building in Kennesaw, which it has occupied since 2020.

The organization has four other offices in Metro Atlanta, including Norcross, College Park, Lawrenceville, and Smyrna as well as in Puerto Rico.
