The Georgia Court of Appeals announced this morning that it would hear an appeal of a judge’s ruling allowing Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis to remain on the county’s election interference case against former President Donald Trump.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the court’s decision will likely mean a significant trial delay for Trump and his 14 co-defendants. It is unknown how long the appeals court will take to decide.

In March, Fulton Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee issued a “certificate of immediate review,” which allowed Trump and the co-defendants to appeal his ruling to the Georgia Court of Appeals before a trial begins.

Trump and eight of the defendants requested the certificate after McAfee ruled there was no actual conflict of interest or basis to disqualify Willis from the case after her romantic relationship with then-special prosecutor Nathan Wade.
