Porterhouse Grill and Bar has been shut down by Brookhaven Police for operating without a business license less than one month after opening.
According to Brookhaven Police, Porterhouse, located at 1410 Dresden Drive, has not passed their safety inspections with the Brookhaven Fire Marshal, and therefore have not been issued a business license.
“Porterhouse was issued a citation earlier in the week by code enforcement for operating without a business license,” said Brookhaven Police Chief Brandon Gurley. “They opened again [May 24] and were issued another citation for operating without a business license.”
Opening on May 4, Porterhouse has made no physical changes to the space since taking over Kaleidoscope Pub, which shuttered on April 28 after 14 years. Porterhouse has also taken over K-Pub’s old Facebook account.
Porterhouse posted a message about the closure: “We have identified a technical issue and will be temporarily closing for a few days to address it. Following this period, we will reopen with additional specials and events. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may have or will cause. We understand the significance of having a place to go to have a good drink hang with friends and unwind. Please bear with us as we take care of this matter. Further announcements will be made shortly.”
The restaurant is owned by Anil Sodadasi, who operates a second location in Athens, GA.
We originally reported that Porterhouse had not passed inspection with DeKalb County Fire Marshal. The correct agency is Brookhaven Fire Marshal. This article has been edited to reflect the error.
